6) BBC apologies after reporter appears to condone Pepe Reina headbutt
Not a very smart move. The BBC were forced into an apology on Tuesday after comments made by Match of the Day 2 host Colin Murray. Murray, a well-known Liverpool fan, appeared to support goalkeeper Pepe Reina after he was sent off for aiming a headbutt in the direction of Newcastle's James Perch.
Murray said: 'When you get sent off for that type of lame headbutt, do you regret not sticking the head in anyway?'
The 35-year-old's question provoked outrage on Twitter.
7) Skrtel: I want even more
Martin Skrtel has already surpassed his goals target for the season – but he is determined to add to his tally before the end of the current campaign.
"It's the most I've scored in a season because usually I don't get too many," Skrtel told LFC magazine. "I think I got one in my second full season here, then I got two.
"So I wanted to get three this season. I've got four at the moment and I'm happy with that.
"My strike against Cardiff wasn't the nicest goal but it was special to score in a final at Wembley. My friends were very happy for me, they all congratulated me. I got a lot of text messages and BBMs too."
But the centre-back admits he doesn't know what has prompted his new-found prolificacy in front of goal this season.
"In the past I've got into decent positions and not taken the chances," he explained. "Maybe I've had more luck this season because I've been able to take them."
Meanwhile, Skrtel admits he is relishing the prospect of a return to Wembley for a mouth-watering semi-final which has divided loyalties on Merseyside.
"I wanted it to be Everton," said the No. 37. "I've played in lots of derbies now and having a Merseyside derby at Wembley will be brilliant.
"I've played in some great stadiums like the Santiago Bernabeu, the Emirates, Wembley. I would probably go for Wembley as my favourite, it's a special place for me."
8) Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson sharing his thoughts
Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson does not believe manager Kenny Dalglish is facing the sack, but has conceded his former team-mate needs to start winning some Premier League games.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: 'I don’t think he’d walk away.
'I don’t believe he’ll be sacked. It’s a poor run, but the new owners are not going to make knee-jerk decisions.
I think one or two people are (mentioning him being sacked), because as a manager in the Premier League it's a crisis if you lose a couple of games.
'They have Villa at home at the weekend and I hate saying it's a must-win, but it is.
'We live in an instant media world, but I think the Liverpool owners are in it for the end game. I think he (Dalglish) will be fine, but at any level, you have to win games.
'I really don't believe he will be sacked.'
Champions League qualification is out of the question for Liverpool for another season as a result of their struggles, and Lawrenson is concerned they will not be able to get back there until they leave their Anfield home.
He said: 'Another problem at Liverpool is the stadium. It's really difficult to know where they're going to go.
'Until they get into the Champions League places they can't attract Champions League players, but how do they get there? Pay stupid money?
'They're trying to play catch-up with other clubs. Anfield is full at 40,000 every week, but other clubs, Arsenal get 60,000, Manchester United 75,000, and then you have Manchester City and Chelsea.'
