Russell exposed

A compelling case for James Harden as MVP.
Harden only averaged one bucket less than Russell Westbrook but missed 255 LESS shots than Westbrook.
Harden was able to average more assists and was just two rebounds per game away from averaging a triple double himself despite not having his teammates create rebound opportunities for him on purpose.
The Oklahoma City Thunder were projected to finish ahead of the Houston Rockets by ESPN yet the Rockets finished 8 wins ahead of them.
Enes Kanter, Steven Adams, Victor Oladipo and Andre Roberson were all ranked ahead of Clint Capela, Ryan Anderson, Trevor Ariza and Patrick Beverley.
Harden was responsible for almost half of his team's points for one of the most potent offenses in NBA history.
Harden's win share % was 2.5% higher than Westbrook's.
Harden became the only player to score 2000+ points and generate 2000+ points for his team. Factoring in scoring, passing and TS%..he has an argument for one of the greatest offensive seasons in NBA history.
Harden was able to lead his Rockets to the 3rd best record in the league ahead defending champs LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
But if it's triple doubles you care about, he had 22 of his own, with an All-Time NBA record of eight 40 point triple doubles and also amassed two 50 point triple doubles...one of which was the ONLY 50+ point, 15+ assist, 15+ rebound game in history.
Whilst it's truly amazing what Westbrook has done, Oscar Robertson wasn't handed the MVP just because he averaged a triple double.
There's levels to this.
