Aleksandar Lazic gets the invitation for the U18 National Team
Aleksandar Lazic (198-SG-96) will be added to U18 Bosnia and Herzegovina National Team as soon as he lands from Romania where he had played European Championship with U16 team. Aleksandar had great Division B U16 championship, his stats were impressive knowing the fact that during the season he didn't play any official games with his team Olimpija Ljubljana. He was sidelined because of the letter of clearance issue and was forced to practice and only play some friendly games. During the U16 championship Aleksandar averaged 13.4 points and 10.5 rebounds which is amazing for the shooting guard. Anyway it's a big turnaround point for him and let's hope we will see more of him in the upcoming years.
Interview with Samir Sehic
Samir Sehic (203-F-96) has been one of the most impressive players of the NIKE EYBL tournament which is at least at the same level as the Albert Schweitzer Tournament, the unofficial U17 WC. However the numerous commitments of Sehic hindered him to play for BIH and unfortunately it is uncertain when he will join the NT.
1) How do you feel Samir?
It was a great feeling winning the Nike EYBL Peach Jam, it was a good way to end our season and I am very happy with the result
2) Is the season ended, and whether you have something else this year regarding basketball?
The season is over, and I am done with games for awhile, but I will be training everyday getting ready for the next year.
3) How many games you played this year and whether these were difficult?
I think we played around 70 games this season in AAU and there were a lot of difficult games, but we were able to push trough them and win most of them.
4) Unfortunately you did not become a U15 USA champion with Titans this year? Why and what happened?
t was very unfortunate that we werent able to pull off the victory, but you cant blame anyone for the lose other then yourself, we just werent able to pull it off.
5) What was the strongest tournament that you played this season and what was your experience in that tournament?
The strongest tournament this year was the Nike EYBL Peach Jam, it was tough to perform, just because there were a lot of college coaches there and it was a bit nerve racking, but we pulled off the championship and I really learned that you have to perform when called upon.
6) Can you tell us which teams do you play for in (AAU, High school and how is working if you go to the camps). Also if is any new players how they fit in with you?
In AAU I play for the Texas Titans and I go to Cy-Woods High School. So in the case of going to camps, I pretty much just represent myself. We usually dont get new players, but when we do they fit in without a problem.
7) Are you satisfied with personal development? Are you satisfied with the results of your team?
Well you cant ever be satisfied with yourself; you always have to strive to be better. As a team we didnt perform to are expectations, so we werent to satisfied with are results in National Championship Tournament.
8) The level that you play how you will compare that to the European basketball?
I dont know how to really compare the too, because I still havent had the change to play overseas but basketball here is more physical and strength wise, when European basketball is more IQ ball and good technique.
9) How tall you are right now and how much you weight and tell us how much did you grown since last year? Have you talk to your doctors about your growth forecasts?
I am 6' 8 (203cm) right now and 245lbs. (112kg) last year I was 6' 7 (201cm), 220lbs. (100kg). So I have gained some muscle and grown an inch (2cm). The doctor said I should be around 6' 10 (208cm).
10) Given the praise you are getting are you already got some colleges offer?
I have couple of colleges interested in me, and I have gone on some visits.
11) Unfortunately you were not able to play for Bosnian National team. Why and what happened?
I have been very busy with AAU basketball and college stuff and just havent been able to make it. Hopefully I will be able to in the future.
12) How would you describe your self as a player and which position your gladly play?
I would describe myself as a hardworking player and I play the 4 and 5 which is power forward and center and I love playing it, but I also love to step out and shoot the 17th footer.
13) For your age and your position you have nice shot and you have a knack for assistance. On what you have to work most in the future?
I think I mostly need to work on my footwork in the post and also learn a counter move for moves that I use.
14) Did you follow the results of your peers from Cadet National team and are your satisfied with the results?
I did follow the team, and I am sadly disappointed that they werent able to make it higher, looks like they faced some good competition but hopefully my schedule allows me to play with them next year.
15) What are your goals for next season?
My personal goal next year, is to continually stay healthy and also to be quicker and faster off my feet and also a lot stronger. As a team I would like to make it to state with my high school team and make it again to the Peach Jam and Orlando Showcase tournament with my AAU team.
16) On the end, when you coming to Bosnia and what do you think who will be next NBA champion?
Honestly I wish my schedule will allow me to be there next year, but if not I will do my best to come as soon as I can, but regarding the NBA title I feel like Miami Heat will once again win.
