(Newcastle win 5-0 on agg) By CARL LIDDLE
KIERON DYER fired Newcastle through to a £15million Champions League jackpot - to say sorry to his team-mates.
The England midfielder missed two sitters as the Toon crashed 1-0 at Manchester City last Saturday and he was determined to make amends against Bosnians Zeljeznicar.
Dyer, 23, scored the all-important first-leg winner a fortnight ago and he was in the right place again to ensure Bobby Robson's men can now start preparing for Europe's big guns.
Striker Lomana LuaLua, Hugo Viana - his first for the club - and Alan Shearer added goals to ease Newcastle into today's draw for the group stages.
In truth, the real work had been done in Bosnia two weeks ago.
Robson said: "I am delighted at the way Kieron bounced back from Saturday. He ran riot at times. I think the Champions League is the stage for him.
"After the setbacks of the injuries he has suffered I believe he can now look forward to a brilliant career. He has everything before him.
"He got a brilliant goal, he turned the game and after his effort we were in control.
"But it was his great goal in the first leg which was so important to us."

Dyer was the inspiration behind the majority of Newcastle's clever approach work and it was fitting he broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute after the best move of the match.
Skipper Shearer laid a Titus Bramble pass out to Nolberto Solano and his superbly weighted ball found Dyer.
The former Ipswich star then did the rest with a cool lob back across keeper Kennan Hasagic into the far corner of the net.
Just 14 minutes later, LuaLua celebrated signing a new four-year deal by scoring the Magpies' second goal.
The former Colchester striker, who bagged a double in the 4-0 hammering of West Ham, latched on to the loose ball 18 yards out and fired in a low drive.
Shearer had a 57th-minute strike ruled offside then he brought the house down with a stunning 30-yard drive which thudded against the post.
However, there was no doubt who the crowd wanted to score.
Viana, already a firm favourite on Tyneside, struck a thunderous strike in the 67th minute that brought an unorthodox save from Hasagic.

But the £8m Portuguese teenager finally gave the fans what they wanted seven minutes later, when he fired home from 15 yards after more scintillating set-up play by Dyer.
Sorry Zeljo suffered more woe when Sanel Jahic was dismissed for a bad tackle on substitute Shola Ameobi in the 70th minute.
Then, 10 minutes from time, Shearer drove in his 122nd goal for the club to overtake St James' legend Malcolm Macdonald as Newcastle's fourth highest goalscorer.
NEWCASTLE: Given, Hughes, Bramble, Dabizas (O'Brien), Bernard, Solano (Kerr), Dyer, Speed, Viana, Shearer, LuaLua (Ameobi). Subs not used: Harper, Elliott, Jenas, Griffin.
ZELJEZNICAR: Hasagic, Jahic, Biscevic, Alihodzic, Mulaosmanovic, Mulalic, Cosic, Seferovic, Karic (Tica), Radonia, Guvo. Subs not used: Kruzik, Kajtaz, Silic, Mesic, Mudranic, Alajic.

(UEFA Cup, 1st rd, 2nd legHearts win 2-0 on agg)
MARK DE VRIES suffered through 90 minutes of twisted racist abuse to emerge a hero for Hearts in Sarajevo last night.
The giant Dutchman rammed the monkey noises pouring from the slopes of the Kosevo Olympic Stadium back down the throats of the Zeljenicar fans as Hearts dug deep to grind out a fine result.
They can now look forward to the second round of the UEFA Cup for the first time in 11 years and they will be hoping to pull a glamour name out of the hat tomorrow.
De Vries ? who missed the Jambos’ best chance after just 20 seconds ? used all his experience to lead the line superbly and sicken the home fans who taunted him.
The Bosnians could be hammered by UEFA for the jibes which marred an otherwise glorious night for Craig Levein’s heroes.
They held out against a wave of NK attacks with the 2-0 first leg win gained at Tynecastle proving to be enough in the end.
Hearts strode into the harrowing surroundings of the Olympic Stadium determined to protect their two goal first leg lead.
All around the ground a mass of graves stood on the ravaged hillsides as a chilling reminder of this country’s tragic recent past.
Sarajevo is a city still heavily scarred by war and the sight of the buildings riddled with bullet holes only served to emphasise this.
But just like Zeljeznicar, this is a nation rebuilding.
The people cheered the kilted Jambo faithful and seemed genuinely pleased to see their Scots visitors.
This was far from the intimidating arena Bosnian boss Milomir Odovic had promised ? apart from the sickening racist chants aimed at de Vries.
The home fans were dotted around the ground in little pockets and they were too far from the pitch to present any real threat to Levein’s men.
But if the crowd weren’t going to pose a threat maybe the shocking facilities were.
Hearts were less than impressed with the changing rooms, but were forced to make the best of it as they battled to keep their Euro dream alive. In 1992 a win over Slavia Prague stamped their passport through to the second round and Hearts knew an early goal would almost certainly do the same for them here.
And with Lubo Moravcik’s cousin refereeing, the early signs were good. Slovakian Anton Stredak was the man in the middle as Zeljeznicar knew only all-out attack would keep their dream alive.
Levein opted for Graham Weir up front, banking on the youngster’s pace and trickery to snatch that crucial away goal.
It was sore on Dennis Wyness, who hadn’t missed a competitive game under Levein since joining from Caley Thistle in the summer.
Phil Stamp was back for Hearts after missing the first leg in Edinburgh ? determined to put his off field problems behind him by helping the Jambos into the next round.
And he and Jean-Louis Valois ? who made a mercy dash to the game after the funeral of his grandfather in France ? got a great reception from the 500-strong travelling band of Jambos.
By kick-off the home fans were bouncing up and down but they were almost left flat out after just 20 seconds.
Neil MacFarlane fed de Vries and the Dutchman turned superbly to create an opening.
But pony-tailed NK keeper Kenan Hasagic ? who was magnificent in the first leg ? spread himself well to deny Hearts a dream start.
It would have been poetic justice for the striker who would suffer sickening racial abuse all night.
In a whirlwind opening, Aussie defender Patrick Kisnorbo flung himself at Adis Obad’s effort to save the Jambos at the other end. Then after nine minutes, Hearts keeper Tepi Moilanen got his first taste of action when he saved bravely at the feet of Sanel Jahic.
De Vries’ glaring miss aside it was a nervous start from the Scots, who were all over the place at the back.
And on 13 minutes they just survived as Almir Gredic fluffed his effort with the Hearts goal gaping.
It was a nerve-ridden opening, but then Levein’s men seemed to settle and were able to restrict the Bosnians to long-range efforts.
But on the half hour they were carved open again with a super pass into the feet of Dzelaludin Muharemovic. But the midfielder shot wide when it looked easier to score.
Zeljeznicar were poor in the first leg and they weren’t offering much again here. It was slack play from Hearts that was giving the home side the openings but they survived unscathed and Levein was able to regroup. The Hearts boss resisted change at half-time, but his side started the second as they had ended the first, on the back foot.
And when Jahic’s screaming volley shaved Moilanen’s bar just five minutes in to the second period the Hearts fans once again held their breath.
But as the home fans began to turn on their heroes the Jambos found belief and Valois came within an inch of giving Hearts the lead on 57 minutes.
The Frenchman gathered a loose pass out of NK’s defence and slipped inside his marker before curling his shot towards the corner.
That man Hasagic stuck out a hand again though and the ball edged inches past the post.
It was the first time the visitors had threatened since de Vries’ early miss.
All of a sudden the spark had gone from NK and Hearts were happy to throw up a wall at the back and settle for what they had.
Thankfully it proved enough in the end and the Jambos can look back on a job well done.

NEWCASTLE fans will face a massive police presence in Bosnia tonight.
The Bosnian authorities have called in hundreds of extra officers for the Toon Army's Champions League qualifying clash against Zeljeznicar Sarajevo.
It is being billed locally as the biggest football event in the history of the fledgling country.
The extra police will be shadowing an estimated 1,000 Geordie fans from the airport to the town - and will be out in force before and after the game.
Sarajevo Centre police chief Munib Zigo said: "The Newcastle fans' every move in the city will be observed by our police forces.
"Also, at the Kosovo stadium, we will prepare special measures."
Zeljeznicar officials reckon their cheap beer - costing as little as 30 pence a pint - could even attract many more than the 1,000 who are travelling officially.
Huge local interest has also guaranteed a record crowd for the visit of Bobby Robson's team to the Sarajevo-based side.
And the Zeljeznicar players have been given a massive incentive to cause a major upset and topple the Toon.
The club pays its players an average of about £100 a month - but has offered them £20,000 EACH to reach the first group phase of the competition.
That would earn the cash-strapped Bosnians a stunning UEFA £2million Champions League bonus.
But head coach Amar Osim is under no illusion about the task ahead.
He admitted: "There is no doubt that Newcastle is better, stronger and a wealthier club than Zeljeznicar, but, who knows...
"These are matches we live for."
Osim says he and his assistants are still hoping to uncover Newcastle's weak spot.
He said: "I've been watching a video from a match that Newcastle lost 3-0 to Barcelona.
"Next, I want to see Newcastle's opening Premiership game against West Ham on August 19 to make sure we are well prepared for the second leg."
Zeljeznicar were founded shortly after the Second World War by local railway staff - the club name means 'railway worker'.
They are the strongest side in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but were plunged into financial crisis by the Balkans war.

FK Zeljeznicar 0-0 Málaga CF
FK Zeljeznicar secured a creditable goalless draw against Spanish side Málaga CF in their UEFA Cup first round, first-leg match tonight.
Strong shot
Málaga, who qualified for the competition via the UEFA Intertoto Cup, almost opened the scoring in the first minute when Dario Silav's strong left-footed shot just missed Kenan Hasagic's goal. Zeljeznicar's Dario Silic went close a minute after that, again just missing the target.
Zeric headers
Senad Zeric headed wide in the 31st minute, and soon afterwards forced Málaga goalkeeper Pedro Contreras into a save with another header. Málaga then took control for the rest of the half, but were able to score.
Silic close
Zeljeznicar came out stronger after the break, and ten minutes into the half, Silic shot wide. Two minutes later, Cosic shot at Contreras after a cross from Admir Kajtaz.
Home side press
As the game ended, Zeljeznicar searched for a winner, Kajtaz going closest when missing an unguarded net from close range. Sanjin Radonja forced Contreras into action again, while at the other end, Málaga could only create a single chance for Dario Silva.

ÍA Akranes 0-1 NK Zeljeznicar (Aggregate 0-4)
Bosnia-Herzegovina's NK Zeljeznicar comfortably defeated Icelandic champions ÍA Akranes to progress to a tie against the Norwegians of Lillestrom SK in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.
Gredic's goal
Akranes faced an undeniably hard task following their 3-0 drubbing in the first leg and Almir Gredic's goal for the visitors on the half-hour mark sealed their fate - and secured the Bosnians' second success in a week in a competition where they had previously never won a game.
Goalkeeper caught out
The Zeljeznicar winger, a scorer in the first leg too, lobbed Olafur Gunnarss for the only goal of the game after the goalkeeper had been caught out of position after misjudging a cross from Edis Mulalic.
No way past
Even before conceding, Akranes had discovered there was no easy way past the visiting defence. Their early attacks were thwarted as Zeljeznicar sat back, kept possession and patiently waited to pounce on the counter.
Youngsters sent on
Akranes coach Gudjon Thordarsson seemed to have resigned himself to defeat by half-time and he sent on several youngsters after the break, clearly aiming to rest key men ahead of Saturday's domestic meeting with KR Reykjavík. Anxious to make an impact, the substitutes gave their all, but Zeljeznicar maintained their composure and were close to scoring again in the final stages.
